I can relate and after 15 years with pets, my wife and I have forgotten about those manners, too. Then again, you realize it's a losing battle when you wake up in the middle of the night and you see two cats in one recliner, two cats in the other recliner, a cat on one end of the couch and the dog on the other end.
I think I'm going to have to give up this battle. Chloe will be "asleep" on the floor, but then I'll walk out of the room and come back a few minutes later to find her on the couch or in the recliner. Sigh . . .
